Finances

 

Excess Funds

02.01

Should the Treasury accumulate an excess of $3000 those monies should be deposited in an interest bearing account.

The Executive Secretary has the discretion to place excess monies in interest bearing accounts.

Returned Checks from Members

02.02

Upon receipt of a check for insufficient funds by any member or non-member, the Executive Secretary shall advise the payer by certified mail (return-receipt requested) that their check was returned and that the account can be corrected without penalty within ten (10) days of the date of the notice by delivering the face amount of the check, the cost of certified mail, and the bank fee charged the Association, if any, to the Association’s office. Should the funds not be delivered within the grace period, a return check charge of Twenty-five ($25.00) Dollars will be added to the payer’s account. The Executive Secretary shall have sole discretion to resolve questions regarding the charges. Forty-five (45) days from the date of a notice, if a member has not cleared their account, the Executive Secretary will remove the member from the list of members and advise the Board of the action. Reinstatement of persons by the Executive Secretary pursuant to this policy shall be a matter for Board action.

Expense Approval Authority

Up to $100 expense for NSA/C business is reasonable.

From $100 - $300 expense must be approved by the President.

Over $300 must be pre-approved by the Board.

Effective June 2002 regular meeting registration costs are as follows:

Registrations are due at the Executive Secretary’s office by Monday preceding the Saturday meeting. Staff and spouses may attend for the same fee as the member.

Showcase Guidelines

03.01

Showcase Guidelines for Regularly Scheduled NSA/C Meetings

New members be encouraged to showcase as soon as possible.

Brief outline presented to showcase chairperson as well as introduction.

Ten (10) minutes allowed including introduction.

Only dues paid members can showcase.

It is the responsibility of the person showcasing to provide their own audio-visual equipment if they need additional equipment that is not on hand for that day’s meeting.

Showcase chairperson’s responsibility:

Informing the new members with an encouragement letter.

Scheduling the showcases for each meeting and Speakers School.

Introducing showcasers.

Providing evaluation forms.

Adhering to NSA/C guidelines.

Guest Speakers

 

03.02

 

It is the policy of NSA/C that promotion of product to NSA/C meeting audiences shall be discouraged. To this end, no one will bring items to be displayed or sold at the NSA/C meeting with the exception of the program speaker.

Program speakers, for their contribution of their time to the organization, are granted the privilege of displaying products for sale in an area designated by the VP of Programs and shall have the availability of the product announced to the audience at the opening of the morning and afternoon sessions. No speaker shall promote their products during their presentation.

NSA/C will provide a non-NSA/C member appearing as a guest speaker at the NSA/C meeting no fee. However, NSA/C will reimburse the speaker for transportation, lodging, and meals. NSA/C will also provide standard audio-visual equipment requested by the speaker. Should the speaker desire to have their product available for sale, the expense of shipping products to and from the NSA/C meeting will be the speaker’s responsibility.

Before a member of NSA/C or NSA can present at a NSA/C meeting, the speaker must have been heard by at least one Board member, spoken at an NSA conference or convention, other NSA Chapter meeting, or showcased at the NSA Convention.

 

 

     
   

Special Events

 

June 7, 2002

Attendees - CSP’s and CPAE’s only.

Purpose:

  • Network with speakers on their level undisturbed by other members, and
  • Encourage attendance of these people at regularly scheduled meetings.

NSA guest speakers will be allowed to attend.

Speakers School

04.02

Purpose: To provide a formalized structure for additional skill development in the field of professional speaking.

Open to any potential, present or past member, or any one interested in the field of professional speaking.

Registration fee is designated on a yearly basis.

Speakers School will be held the first Friday night and Saturday in November.

Registration for new members in NSA/C will be included in their first year membership.

All current NSA/C members will pay $95.

All other participants will pay $125.

Participating speakers will not have to pay registration but will not be paid a fee for speaking.

Public Showcases

Each participant will have 15 minutes to have an introduction and showcase.

Participants must be dues paying members with 10 engagements in the past 12 months, minimum.

Fee to participate - $150; fee to attend - $75

Membership

 

Membership Dues

05.01

Notices for membership renewal shall be distributed by October 1.

The deadline is November 1.

If renewal dues are not received by January 1, members are dropped from membership. To renew after January 1, a $25 reinstatement fee is charged.

Annual renewal dues are $145. The fee to join is $350, which includes a coupon for one Speakers School registration.

Individuals inquiring about NSA/C shall receive a membership packet containing NSA/C membership information, NSA/C newsletter, and NSA membership information.

Name Badges

Obtain name badges for members to wear at NSA/C and NSA functions shaped like the states of North and South Carolina.

Name badges will include NSA designations.

Members are requested to leave their name badges at the meetings in a storage box.

Ribbons should be added to designate NSA/C officers.

Recognition

 

Member of the Year

06.01

Immediate past Chapter Member of the Year chairs the nomination, vote and announcement of the next Member of the Year.

  • Responsible for obtaining plaque for winner.
  • Responsible for notifying NSA before their set deadline.

Member Recruitment Recognition

06.02

A recognition plaque will be given annually at the June Meeting to the member who has brought in the most guests during the past year. Either the host member or the guest is responsible for informing the Executive Secretary of attendance. The Executive Secretary of the Association is delegated to order and deliver said plaque to the President.

Wireless Microphone

07.01

Wireless mike purchased by NSA/C through individual contributions will be housed in the Program VP’s office.

The Program VP will be responsible for bringing the mike to each regularly scheduled meeting.
